The Bear 04:39
The bear moved into the city/when all of the work dried up put it all in his pick up truck/and drove down the mountain and he scoured the classified ads/for a window with a view of the trees signed his name got a set of keys/and the empty light of a room and he said/i wonder if this is what heaven is like/and what if it means i'm more dead than alive and what would i be if i turned out the light/before night fell The bear walked awhile for groceries/and everyone stared at the ground moving to the beat of the sound/the voices of the engines and the sidewalk wore at his feet/and it hurt just a little more to open and close the door/of the bodega on the corner and he said/i wonder if this is what heaven is like/and what if it means i'm more dead than alive and what would i be if i turned out the light/before night fell in the old days/we would up and run in the old days/we were so young the bear laid down on a park bench/and stared straight up at the sky waiting on the first starlight/in the space between the buildings and he stayed awake all night/with the cars and the people and his fingers formed a steeple/pointed at the sky and he said/i wonder if this is what heaven is like/and what if it means i'm more dead than alive and what would i be if i turned out the light/before night fell
2.
I never had a gun/i think it would be heavy if i was the only one/but i never had a gun it's easier to say/everything i'd never do all the roads i'd never take/it's easier to say i will believe you/if you believe me in the middle of the night/there are breaking sounds it's a dangerous time/in the middle of the night i could take a bullet/burning to bleed and never even know it/i could take a bullet i will believe you/if you believe me stand up taller than/stare straight into the sun tell me what still needs to be done i will believe you/if you believe me i'm not sure of anyone/but i never had a gun
